The Dickson Plan
The Dickson Plan is a child-centred form of education which allows for seamless, stress-free transfer of all P7 pupils from local Primary Schools to one of four 11-14 Junior High Schools, without the need to sit an academic test.
At the end of Key Stage 3, pupils sit transfer examinations in the Junior High Schools to facilitate an appropriate pathway to one of the Senior High Schools - Lurgan College, Portadown College, or Craigavon Senior High School.
The Dickson Plan affords young people opportunities for maturation so that, at age 14, they are enabled to make informed choices about the next stage of their education. Put simply it allows pupils to follow -
'The right path at the right time'.
